SAN MARCOS (KXAN) – A development of over 200 “micro homes” is coming to San Marcos soon. Earlier this month, Casata broke ground in what will be a community of 210 homes ranging from 500 to 800 square feet. Casata CEO Aaron Levy said this will be the largest community of microhomes in the region and potentially in the U.S.

In 2021, the Austin Business Journal reported on plans by Casata, an Austin-based startup, to harness two burgeoning housing trends: micro homes and build-to-rent communities. At the time, the company was wrapping construction on Casata Austin, its first community, located in South Austin on Old Manchaca Road.
